Small changes can make a big impact, and as part of our ongoing commitment towards becoming a more green, sustainable business, we’ve created packaging that is more eco-friendly. We’re proud to announce that from January 11th 2023, our 10L plastic pails will be made from 20% regrind (recycled) material in both the pail and lid.
Read on to learn more about our new, greener pails and how you can get involved in our sustainability journey.
What is regrind?
When pails are collected via the Paint Take-Back initiative, they are broken down into plastic pellets which are then used in the making of new pails. It’s one way we’re reducing waste across our product’s lifecycle.
It’s with your help that we’re able to take this step. By simply returning your leftover product and packaging to a Paint Take-Back depot, you’re ensuring that these items are recycled, reused or responsibly disposed of. The more pails that are returned through Paint Take-Back, the more we can increase the amount of recycled material in our packaging.
Just like the rest of our pails, these new pails are still 100% recyclable through the Paint Take-Back initiative. It’s an eco-friendly, continuous cycle.
How can you get involved in the Paint Take-Back initiative?
Once your project is finished, just return your leftover Cabot’s product and packaging to a Paint Take-Back depot free of charge. Depots can be found at all Dulux Trade Centres and selected Guthrie Bowron stores across Aotearoa New Zealand. The team will then recycle, reuse or dispose of it responsibly. It’s a simple way for you to declutter your space while also having a positive, green impact on the environment.
Will I notice a difference in my Cabot’s product?
No, it’ll still be the same oil, stain or finish you know and love. You may just notice the colour of the pails is slightly different to the yellow you’re used to. Take on your woodcare projects knowing you’ve made a greener choice.
We know there’s still a long way to go towards becoming a fully sustainable business, but we’re committed to putting in the work and playing our part in creating a greener future.
